Do the so-called "acoustic" leak detection methods have the same results on a cast iron network and on a PE or PVC network?

Sound waves travel harder on plastic pipes than cast iron, so it's not directly comparable.
But SEWERIN has worked hard in recent years to improve performance on plastic. Finding leaks by acoustic methods on PLASTIC IS POSSIBLE!!

As a general rule plastic materials are less conductive but nothing prevents you from trying. there are specific sensors for PVC that listen in water. The main thing with this method is that the sensors both hear the vibration generated by the leak.

An effective method on PVC materials, in a noisy environment and on large diameters, is the HELIUM tracer gas leak detection method. HELIOTRACE has developed this method and remains the leader in this field.
