What parameters should be taken into account when choosing a trommel for rubble and demolition waste?
1 answer
Hello
a trommel screen for the rubble and demolition waste recycling sector is subject to specific constraints due in particular to the specific weight of this waste, its size (concrete blocks or stones, etc.) and its very abrasive.
It is therefore advisable to provide on the hopper of the machine a scalping device often consisting of either a tilting or vibrating bar, which makes it possible to separate at the screening head all the very large coarse particles (over 150 to 250 mm in general) which could damage the mesh of the trommel and the bands.
Regarding the shell itself, it is also frequently required an extra thickness of the perforated sheet in order to provide better resistance to shocks which could cause bumps, and to wear by abrasion.
There are also more resistant grades of steel which can be used with profit to fight against too rapid wear of the ferrule.
These substrates also often produce dust during work, so an option to reduce the dust is often necessary: most of the time it is a misting installation to create a mist of micro-droplets of water which fix dust on the ground.
Finally, automatic greasing is recommended because it helps prevent the entry of dust and sand into the bearings. Diesel/electric or electric drive models offer more torque and better speed stability.
The rubber bands can also be reinforced to prevent damage from punching large stones.

What is the difference between crushing and grinding?
Last response: We rather speak of crushing for the coarse particle size reduction (exp: from the quarry block to granules of a few millimeters), and of grinding for the particle size reduction in the powder phase. Read more
I have waste larger than 150mm and I would like to reduce its size. A hammer mill will be inefficient for the rocks and a crusher requires to separate the waste). What solutions do you recommend for shredding this mixed waste?
